Dean named Batavia Downs POTW
Rochester Red Wings LHP Pat Dean has been named the Batavia Downs Racetrack and Gaming Player of the Week for the period of August 5-11. Dean was also named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the same period.
Dean was promoted from Double-A New Britain Monday August 5, and made his Triple-A debut in Durham in the middle of a pennant race. In that game, he took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and allowed just two hits against the IL's top offense, striking out 4 and getting the win against the first place Bulls. Then on Saturday, August 10, Dean worked 7 2/3 innings allowing just two runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in his second career Triple-A start. The southpaw's first run allowed at Triple-A came on a two-out RBI double from Zelous Wheeler in the 7th inning that snapped a 0-0 tie. It also snapped Dean's 13-inning scoreless streak to start his Red Wings career
The 24-year-old was selected by the Twins in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft out of Boston College.

Batavia Downs Racetrack, America's oldest lighted harness track, features live races beginning July 22 until December 7. There will be Sunday afternoon racing at Batavia Downs in August with a 1:15 p.m. post. Matinees are also scheduled for Labor Day, September 2 and Columbus Day, October 14 also with 1:15 p.m. starts.
