MOBILE, Ala. (April 16, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, stayed within striking distance for the first six innings, but a four-run seventh made the difference in a 7-3 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Jesus Castillo (0-2) struck out seven batters in a four-inning start. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the first but gave up runs in the second and fourth. Castillo has taken a loss in two of his first three outings.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the BayBears (4-7) got on the board when Jahmai Jones scored on a Roberto Baldoquin RBI double. Jones drove in a run of his own in the bottom of the ninth with a groundout. Brandon Marsh also plated a run with a ninth-inning single and recorded his third multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4.
However, the Biscuits (7-4) had their second four-run inning of the series and stretched their lead to 6-1 in the seventh. Dalton Kelly hit a two-run homer, Tristan Gray scored on an error, and Robbie Tenerowicz crossed home on a double steal.
Brendan McKay struck out seven batters for Montgomery in a four-inning start, allowing one run on three hits. Sam McWilliams (1-0) pitched the final five innings and earned the win in his first appearance of the season.
