Sutter Health Gardens
The Sacramento River Cats began building the Sutter Health Gardens in 2014. The building of the garden is driven by the importance of community involvement and education about healthy eating and learning to "Grow Your Own", also supporting Sacramento's Farm-To-Fork movement.
A Community Harvest...
Since its inception, the Sutter Health Gardens has harvested over 550 lbs. of produce for local food banks through the Raley's Food For Families program. The garden grows a variety of vegetables and fruit, such as tomatoes, cabbages, pumpkins, strawberries, eggplants, and much more. When you visit, you'll find annuals and perennials planted specifically to attract pollinators - a key piece to the success of any garden.
From Little Beginnings...
Each and every day, the Garden grows stronger and more plentiful. As the Garden continues to grow, so does community involvement.Since the Sutter Health gardens have been growing, the River Cats have been able to assist in building multiple school gardens in the Greater Sacramento area.
