FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 14, 2026) — The San Antonio Missions (20-23) walloped a season-high six homers and at one point held leads as large as 10-4 in the sixth and 12-8 in the eighth innings respectively, but the Frisco RoughRiders (22-21) homered three times and scored six runs in the eighth to comeback and defeat the Missions 14-12. The teams combined for 10 homers and 37 hits.

Alex McCoy made a loud statement in his Double-A debut by homering in his very first at bat, a solo shot to put the Missions up 1-0 quickly in the first. For McCoy, this marked the first of four hits and two homers. Albert Fabian added a homer in the second off RoughRiders starter Cole Stasio, so San Antonio jumped ahead 2-0.

Frisco scored four unanswered beginning with three in the third against Missions starter Jamie Hitt. Frainyer Chavez found grass with a bloop double before Arturo Disla sent a missile towards the lazy river, a two-run shot that catapulted Frisco ahead 3-2. Yeison Morrobel’s RBI triple in the fourth then made it 4-2 Frisco.

That lead didn’t last long once McCoy doubled in a run in the fifth ahead of Braedon Karpathios’s moonshot to right, a two-run homer that this time gave the Missions a 5-4 advantage.

Luis Verdugo greeted Eric Loomis in the sixth with a solo shot to left center field. The Missions then loaded the bases for Karpathios, who blasted a grand slam off the batter’s eye in center field. The big blow opened the game up for San Antonio, who led 10-4 at that point.

The RoughRiders responded immediately against Francis Peña in the bottom of the sixth. An error, a Morrobel RBI single and a two-run double by Marcus Lee Sang suddenly made it just 10-8 Missions.

In the eighth, McCoy appeared to give the Missions some breathing room with another two-run blast that grew the edge to 12-8. McCoy arrived in Frisco late last night, put on a Missions uniform for the first time tonight and made quite the impressions with four hits and two homers.

The 12-8 lead vanished quickly for the Missions. Lee Sang towered a three-run homer the opposite way against Bernard Jose, his fourth hit of the night. Garrett Hawkins then took over, but Max Wagner welcomed him with a go-ahead two run homer. The very next hitter, Dylan Dreiling, scorched a solo homer to right. Out of nowhere, the RoughRiders took a 14-12 lead.

San Antonio gave it one last crack in the ninth. With two outs and no one on, Romeo Sanabria drew a walk before Ryan Jackson blooped a single to place runners at the corners. However, Thomas Ireland forced Tirso Ornelas to ground out, sealing Frisco’s stunning 14-12 victory.
