Yankees set new attendance mark

Family from Hanover Township is lucky "fan" #560,455
August 27, 2007
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre baseball franchise broke a fifteen year-old attendance record Monday night when the Shehwen family from Hanover Township, PA became lucky "fan" number 560,455.

The 1992 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons attracted the previous record 560,454 fans.

For being the lucky fans, Chris, Katie and daughter Adaleigh received a three day/two night stay in the Champagne Tower at one of the four Caesars Pocono Resorts, dinner for four and four tickets to see The Last Comic Standing live at Caesars Cove Haven, a signed Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees team ball, two Yankees hats, signed photos from Eric Duncan, Shelley Duncan and Chris Britton, a Yankees team card set and two Yankees t-shirts.

The Yankees have enjoyed a tremendous season at the gate averaging nearly 8,800 fans per contest, also a new franchise record. With one home game remaining, the Yankees have averaged well over 9,000 per game since early May and are ranked in the top 7 of all minor league teams in the country.

The 2007 attendance figures represent a 36.8 % increase over the 2006 per game average of 5,534 and an increase in sellouts from one to 21.
