Burrows & Labourt Named to the Futures Game

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are pleased to announce that right-handed starting pitcher Beau Burrows and left-handed reliever Jairo Labourt have been named to the 2017 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
Burrows will play for the U.S. Team while Labourt will play for the World Team in the game that will take place on Sunday, July 9 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.
Burrows is currently rated as the number three prospect in the Tigers organization by MLB.com. He began the season in Class-A Lakeland where he made 11 starts, posting a 4-3 record with a 1.23 ERA. He was promoted to Erie on June 5 and won his Double-A debut on June 7 in New Hampshire. Burrows has made four starts with the SeaWolves going 2-1 with a 5.21 ERA. Burrows was the Tigers first round selection in the 2015 June draft out of Weatherford High School in Texas.
Labourt is currently rated as the number 19 prospect in the Tigers organization by MLB.com. It is his second trip to the Futures Game. He participated in the 2015 Futures Game at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, tossing a scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts. Labourt began the season with Class-A Lakeland where he appeared in eight games, posting an 0.66 ERA. He struck out 22 batters in 13.2 innings prior to his promotion to Erie on May 3. Since joining the SeaWolves, Labourt has appeared in 18 games, posting a 1-1 record with three saves and a 2.30 ERA. He had a streak of 12 consecutive scoreless appearances (19.1 innings) from May 20-June 20. Labourt was originally signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an undrafted free agent on June 30, 2011. He was acquired by the Tigers along with Matthew Boyd and Daniel Norris in exchange for David Price on July 30, 2015.
The SeaWolves return to UPMC Park on Friday, June 30 against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at 7:05 p.m. Friday, the first 1,000 fans ages 4-14 receive a SeaWolves Youth Jersey courtesy of VisitPITTSBURGH. Fans will be treated to fireworks on three straight nights beginning Saturday July 1 presented by Covelli Enterprises (Panera Bread & O'Charley's), Rebich Investments and the Pennsylvania Lottery.
