Home Again: Shuckers Return To Open 2018 Season

First homestand includes fireworks, special jerseys and plenty of deals for families

After opening the season on the road, the Biloxi Shuckers return to the Gulf Coast for five games against the Mississippi Braves from April 11-15. Highlights of the homestand include fireworks on two of the five nights, a pair of giveaways and deals all throughout the series.
Wednesday, April 11, 6:35 pm: Opening Night with Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by WLOX and Postgame Fireworks
The Shuckers begin the 2018 season at MGM Park with a bang on Opening Night. As fans enter the gates, they will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of WLOX, which includes all games for the season and home game times. In addition to Opening Night, it's the first All-You-Can-Eat Wednesday. For just $20, fans get access to an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Community Bank Terrace along with a game ticket. Contact the box office at 228-233-3465 for details. After the game, the skies above MGM Park will illuminate with the first of 12 fireworks shows scheduled for the season.
On the field, the Shuckers will send RHP Luis Ortiz (0-0, 3.60 ERA) to the mound for his second start of the season. The fifth-ranked prospect in the Brewers organization, Ortiz pitched 5.0 innings in Biloxi's first game against the Montgomery Biscuits and did not receive a decision after allowing just two runs on five hits.
Thursday, April 12, 6:35 pm: Career Fair and Double Play Thursday presented by Yuengling, Coca-Cola, Polk's Meat Products and Kicker 108
On Double Play Thursdays throughout the season, fans can purchase a Double Play ticket, which includes a Thursday night game ticket paired with two drink vouchers for only $10. Double Play Thursday ballpark specials include $2 Yuengling, $2 fountain drinks, $3 weekly draft specials and $2 hot dogs. Throughout the game, businesses will be set up on the concourse of MGM Park for career fair networking with Shuckers fans. Come early for a pregame performance by James Gillies and Rob Gronkoski.
Making his second start of the season and first ever at MGM Park, RHP Zack Brown (0-0, 3.60) toes the rubber for the Shuckers. Brown turned in a solid outing in his first Double-A performance against Montgomery, throwing 5.0 innings while allowing two runs and striking out seven.
Friday, April 13, 6:35 pm: Fright Night and Postgame Fireworks
On Friday the 13th, it'll be a frightfully fun night at the ballpark. Fans are encouraged to wear costumes, and kids can enjoy trick-or-treating, face painting, games and more throughout the night! Stick around after the game for postgame fireworks set to delightfully spooky music.
Saturday, April 14, 6:35 pm: Biloxi Dodgers Shirsey Giveaway presented by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi and Biloxi Dodgers Tribute Night
On the first Super Saturday of the year, the Shuckers kick off the Jackie Robinson Day celebration early with Biloxi Dodgers Night. In celebration of the Negro League team that called Biloxi home from the 1940's to 1980's, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Biloxi Dodgers Shirsey (shirt/jersey). Gates open at 5:30 pm.
The Shuckers will also wear special Biloxi Dodgers jerseys during the game. Get to the ballpark early for a special performance by Bourbon & Lace beginning at 5:00 pm outside the north gate of MGM Park.
Sunday, April 15, 2:05 pm: Military Salute Sunday presented by Keesler Federal Credit Union:
The Shuckers close out the first homestand of the season with a day game on Sunday. To honor our military personnel, the Shuckers are offering discounted tickets for active or retire military who present a valid ID. Special family four packs are also available which include four tickets paired with four Schooner's specials that are valid for four hot dogs, four drinks and four chips for just $60. Rounding out the fun, select players will be available before the game for autographs, and every Sunday concludes with postgame catch on the field.
