Shuckers comeback again to win third straight over M-Braves

PEARL, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers won their third straight game in comeback fashion on Sunday night, overcoming an early deficit to beat the Mississippi Braves by a score of 6-4. With the win and a Mobile loss, the Shuckers find themselves just 2.0 games out of first place in the South Division with 27 games to play.
The Shuckers and M-Braves had to endure another rain delay on Sunday which last ed 48 minutes. 
Recently promoted outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. continued to hit the ball well, starting the scoring with a first-inning home run to put the Shuckers up 1-0. The left fielder would later hit a go-ahead double in the fifth, marking four RBI in the past two games.

Hiram Burgos (W, 2-0) earned his first quality start of the season for the Shuckers, settling down after a rocky start to complete 6.0 innings of three-run ball. The righty allowed single runs in each of the first three innings but faced the minimum in his final three frames.
Braves starter Touki Toussaint (L, 0-2) struck out nine Shuckers batters over 5.0 innings but ran into trouble his second and third times through the order. In the fourth, RBI singles from Dustin DeMuth and Jacob Nottingham tied the game 3-3. The Shuckers batted eight times in the fifth, getting doubles from Stokes and Clint Coulter and a single from Javier Betancourt to take a 6-3 lead. Coulter reached base safely in his final four plate appearances on Sunday and was 2-for-3 with the double, two runs and an RBI.
Josh Uhen tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief and got out of a seventh inning jam by striking out pinch-hitter Emerson Landoni in the seventh to leave the bases loaded. Jorge López (S, 4) worked around a ninth-inning run for his fourth save of the season.
The Shuckers have a chance to win their first four games against an opponent for the second straight series on Monday as Freddy Peralta takes on Mississippi's Wes Parsons. First pitch from Trustmark Park is at 7:00 pm CT with live coverage beginning at 6:40 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available at biloxishuckers.com, MiLB.TV and TuneIn Radio.
The Shuckers return to MGM Park on Thursday for a five-game homestand with the Chicago Cubs affiliate Tennessee Smokies.
