Frisco, TX - The Frisco RoughRiders claimed the rubber match and series win with an 11-4 victory against the Springfield Cardinals before 3,028 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Tuesday night. The Cardinals close the opening road trip and head home for Opening Day at Hammons Field on Thursday, April 12.

Both Cardinals RHP Jake Woodford (L, 0-1) and Frisco RHP Richelson Peña (W, 1-0) exchanged scoreless innings in the first, before the Cardinals (1-5) powered in front in the second. With two down and the bases empty, RF Victor Roache sent a towering solo shot to left field for his first home run as a Cardinal and the 1-0 lead.

Woodford kept the RoughRiders (3-3) off the board until the bottom of the fourth, when Frisco squared the score. A leadoff double and a pair of walks loaded the bases with no outs for LF Tommy Joseph. The former big leaguer lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to left field, evening it at 1-1.

The RoughRiders kept the bats going in the fourth with a two-run single from CF Scott Heineman, an RBI base hit by Joseph and a run-scoring error to plate four in the frame and open a 5-1 lead.

Springfield tried to catch up with an RBI sacrifice fly from 2B Darren Seferina in the sixth and an RBI triple by LF Thomas Spitz, who then scored on a wild pitch in the seventh, but Frisco went on to score two in each inning from the sixth through the eighth, consistently keeping Cardinals comeback attempts at bay.

Frisco RHP James Dykstra then logged a pair of scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth, closing the 11-4 win for the RoughRiders.
