ST. PAUL, MN (August 25, 2026) - Fun fact: the first Native American to don a baseball jersey was Louis Sockalexis in 1897 for the Cleveland Spiders. One of the more famous Native American ballplayers from Minnesota is Hall of Famer Chief Bender, who tied a record by throwing three complete games in a single World Series. The St. Paul Saints will once again work alongside their partners, the Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino, to host Native American Heritage Night on Thursday, August 27. It will be a night of culture, tradition, and a unique giveaway as the Saints don a special uniform.
In recognition of Native American Heritage Night, the Saints will wear custom jerseys that were specially designed by the Prairie Island Indian Community. The word “Imnizaska,” the ancient Dakota name for the present-day city of St. Paul, in script will appear across the chest and include “St. Paul” in the tail of the “a.” The body of the jersey features a map of St. Paul and surrounding Dakota territory before settlement, with places of reference written in Dakota. The Saints will hold a jersey auction with proceeds benefitting MIGIZI, which provides a strong circle of support that nurtures the educational, social, economic and cultural development of American Indian youth. A traditional tipi will be inside the front gates and fans will be entertained with a pre-game performance presented by members of the Prairie Island Indian Community.
The game will also welcome non-profit organizations who are being celebrated through the Saints and Treasure Island's Mudonna's Kids Club, where we share in our belief that Every Kid Deserves a Saints Game. Throughout the season the Saints and Treasure Island have each donated $250 to Mudonna's Kids Club for every home run hit by a Saints player at CHS Field. Over $66,000 has been raised through 132 home runs hit by the Saints at home this year. In turn there have been over 6200 kids in Mudonna's Kids Club in its first year.
Tickets for the August 27 game range in price from $5-$35. Tickets purchased on the day of the game are an additional $2 per ticket. Children under the age of 12 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.
Saints Box Office hours on non-game days are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. On game days, the Box Office will open at 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday and will remain open until 15 minutes following each game.
