The St. Paul Saints have never hoped the idiom March “goes out like a lamb” was more accurate than when the 2023 season begins. That’s because for the first time in franchise history they will play a game in March. Perhaps the good news is, that game won’t take place in the unpredictable weather of Minnesota, but the tropical city of Nashville Toledo. The Saints 2023 season is a 150-game slate that kicks off on Friday, March 31 and concludes on Sunday, September 24.

The Saints begin the season with a three-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers) from March 31-April 2. Following a Monday, April 3 off day, the Saints home opener takes place on Tuesday, April 4 as part of a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs (Chicago Cubs).

The International League will continue the schedule it’s adopted over the last two seasons, six-game series with a universal Monday off day. The lone exceptions to the six-game series are the opening three-game series of the season and a three-game series from July 14-16, in which the Saints will host the Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays) for the first time in franchise history, following the four-day Major League All-Star break.

The Saints will host two, 12-game homestands with the first taking place from May 2-14 with a six-game series against the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers) followed by a six-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates). The Saints also have a 12-game homestand from August 8-20 against the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds) and Indians.

Along with the Bulls, the Saints will play one other first-time opponent, the Gwinnett Stripers (Atlanta Braves) at CHS Field from June 28-July 3. The Saints will travel to one new ballpark, Frontier Field home of the Rochester Red Wings (Washington Nationals), the former Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, from April 25-30.

The 150-game schedule will consist of 75 home games and 75 road games. Game times, along with information on single game and group tickets, will be announced at a later date.

The Saints, who are a part of the 10-team West Division, will play their closest rival, the I-Cubs a total of 24 times, 12 at home and 12 on the road. They will play six other teams within the division 18 times, and it breaks down as follows: Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Guardians, six home and 12 on the road), Indians (12 home, six road), Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds, six home, 12 road), Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals, six home, 12 road), and Mud Hens (12 home, nine road). The Saints will play two teams within the division six times at home: Stripers and Sounds. The rest of the schedule is made up of series against four teams from the East Division: Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays, six game on the road), Bulls (three games at home), Red Wings (six games on the road), and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (New York Yankees, six games at home).

Most series are six games in length, beginning on Tuesday and going through Sunday with all, but one Monday being league-wide off-days. The league has implemented back-to-back off days on June 26 and 27 to accommodate teams playing on Monday, July 3 and then on Tuesday, July 4. The Saints play a wraparound series against the Stripers from Wednesday, August 28-Monday, July 3 and then travel to the I-Cubs for July 4-9. It’s the only non-Monday off day on the schedule and will constitute the longest stretch of games without an off-day, a total of 12 consecutive days of games.

Overall, the Saints have 11 homestands, with two, 12-game homestands, eight, six-game homestands, and a three-game homestand

The Saints will play two, 12-game roadtrips, eight, six-game roadtrips, and one, three game series.

In all, 39 of the 75 Saints home games will take place Friday-Sunday and 51 of 75 Thursday-Sunday. There are a total of 12 home games in April, 18 in May, nine in June, 12 in July, 15 in August, and nine in September.

Season tickets, including full, half and 12-game mini plans, are currently available. For more information contact the Saints ticket office at 651-644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com. For a printable schedule fans can click here.
