ST. PAUL, MN (June 23, 2025) - After putting together the best start to a season in his pro career, Pierson Ohl’s adjustments in his second Double-A campaign have paid off. In conjunction with the Minnesota Twins, the St. Paul Saints have announced the promotion of the right-hander from Double-A Wichita on Monday, with Ohl set to make his Triple-A debut for the Saints on Tuesday evening at CHS Field.

Recently rated as the No. 22 prospect in the Twins organization by Fangraphs, Ohl, 25, is another success story in the Twins pitching development program. A 14th round pick in 2021 out of Grand Canyon University, the right-hander dominated the Texas League this this season only a year removed from posting a 4.68 ERA at the level. Ohl has gone 4-1 and produced a 2.08 ERA with the Wind Surge this year. His ERA ranks 7th in the league among pitchers with at least 30 innings thrown and his 11.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio is the best in the Texas League. Ohl has struck out 46, a 30.3% K-rate, and walked just four, a league-best 2.6% BB-rate, in 39 innings of work for the Wind Surge.

After opening the season on the injured list and making two rehab appearances with Low-A Fort Myers, Ohl hit the ground running back in the Texas League in late April. Working both as a starter and in bulk relief, he pitched every 4-5 days, topping out at 4.0 innings at a time and no more than 59 pitches thrown in an outing. He has struck out at least one batter in 14 of his 15 outings this season and has not issued more than one walk in a game.

The Moorpark, CA native’s strikeout-rate this season is a career-best mark and he’s on pace to top his strikeout total of 115 in 127.1 innings last season. A strike-thrower, Ohl owns a career 3.5% walk rate since his first full-season in the minors in 2022, the second lowest among all Twins farmhands at the full-season level, trailing only Zebby Matthews (3.3%). His walk-rate is also top 20 in Minor League baseball in that span.

A product of Grand Canyon University (AZ), Ohl was the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year as a junior in 2021, the first in school history for the Antelopes. He closed out his college career by earning 2nd Team All-American honors from the Collegiate Newspaper after he tied the nation’s lead with seven complete game efforts and ranked third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (103:12) before being drafted by Minnesota.

In a corresponding move, utility player Mickey Gasper was placed on the 7-day injured list with bilateral planter fasciitis. The Saints roster now stands at 26, two shy of the league maximum, with 14 pitchers and 12 position players.
