_BUFFALO, NY _*(June 3, 2023) - *The story has nearly been the same during each win at Sahlen Field. A close game looks more lopsided because the Saints offense scores in bunches late in the game. The Saints scored four runs over the seventh and eighth innings to turn a one-run game into an 8-3 victory. The win improved the Saints to 31-23 on the season.

The Saints grabbed the lead in the second as Matt Wallner led off with a double to right-center and scored on a two-out single by Mark Contreras to make it 1-0.

The Bisons responded with a pair in the bottom of the inning as they loaded the bases with the first three hitters on a walk, infield single, and a walk. With one out Trevor Schweke’s single to left scored a pair giving the Bisons a 2-1 lead.

The wind helped the Saints grab the lead for good in the fifth. The Saints drew three walks in the inning to load the bases Edouard Julien then hit what appeared to be a routine fly ball to left, but the wind pushed it away from Spencer Horwitz as the ball fell for a bases clearing double giving the Saints a 4-2 lead. Julien went 2-5 with a double and three RBI.

The Bisons got a run back in the bottom of the sixth. Horwitz and Bernard started the inning with back-to-back singles putting runners at first and second. With two outs Schweke looped an RBI single into left cutting the Saints lead to 4-3.

The Saints cashed in with the bases loaded in the seventh. With two outs Trevor Larnach walked, Wallner was hit by a pitch, and Julien singled to center to load the bases. Chris Williams delivered with an infield single to second putting the Saints up 5-3.

In the eighth, the Saints put the finishing touches on their victory. Jair Camargo led off with a single to right and he scored on an RBI double down the third base line by De Goti giving the Saints a 6-3 lead. With two outs, Larnach drilled a two-run homer to right-center, his third with the Saints, putting the Saints up 8-3. Larnach went 1-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored.

The bullpen of Oliver Ortega, Patrick Murphy, and Josh Winder went 4.2 innings allowing one run and struck out five.

The same two teams play the finale of the six-game series on Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. (CT). The Saints send Major League rehabber, RHP Kenta Maeda (0-0, 0.00) to the mound against Bisons RHP Casey Lawrence (1-4, 4.86). The game can be heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
