The Whitecaps opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly by Daniel Cabrera in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but the Loons scored 15 unanswered runs beginning with a two-run homer by Justin Yurchak to take a 2-1 lead. In the second inning, RBI-singles by Zac Ching, Ryan Ward, Leonel Valera, and two for Yurchak and run-scoring doubles from Carson Taylor, Ching, Ryan January, and Andy Pages to highlight the biggest offensive inning for the Loons this season. After scoring two in the third, Jimmy Kerr collected an RBI-single in a game that saw the score at 16-2 headed into the eighth inning. West Michigan picked up four runs in the eighth with run-scoring singles by Wenceel Perez and Rey Rivera, along with a run-scoring double by Parker Meadows.

Loons reliever Jose Martinez (5-1) tossed 5.1 innings and gave up five runs to win his fifth game of the season, while Whitecaps starting pitcher Keider Montero (4-8) lost his eighth game after giving up four runs in just one inning. The Whitecaps fall to 34-39 on the season while the first-place Loons increase their record to 41-33.
