The first-place Round Rock Express swept Saturday's doubleheader from the New Orleans Baby Cakes, winning 7-1 and 5-4.
Round Rock got a two-run homer from Nick Tanielu in the second inning of the opener, and Chas McCormick followed with a solo shot as the Express jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Billy Fleming homered in the third inning to get the Baby Cakes on the board, but a three-run double from Garrett Stubbs allowed Round Rock to put the game out of reach.
In the nightcap, New Orleans struck for a first-inning run only for the Express to respond with a two-run single from Taylor Jones.
Round Rock added a run in the fifth, and Lorenzo Quintana's two-run homer an inning later extended the advantage to 5-1, but the 'Cakes rallied with three runs in their final at-bat to pull within one. Ronel Blanco came on to retire the game's final two hitters to preserve his fourth save.
Eddy Alvarez led the charge for New Orleans with three hits and a walk, and Cesar Puello and Rosell Herrera each drove in two.
The losses officially eliminated the Baby Cakes from postseason contention, extending their playoff drought to 12 seasons, the longest in the Pacific Coast League.
The four-game set wraps up with the series finale on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
