TULSA, Okla.—The Wichita Wind Surge lost 6-5 to the Tulsa Drillers in the series finale. The Propeller Series now stands 6-6 halfway through the 2024 season series between both teams.

Tulsa scored first on a Taylor Young RBI double to center in the bottom of the first inning against Wind Surge starter Pierson Ohl. Emmanuel Rodriguez responded for Wichita in the top of the third with a solo home run that narrowly cleared the fence in left-center to tie the game.

Alex Freeland found the Drillers bullpen in right field on a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the third. The Wind Surge followed on a pair of run-scoring singles from Jake Rucker and Aaron Sabato to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth.

Both sides would follow with home runs between the bottom of the fifth and the top of the sixth. Respectively, Bubba Alleyne tied the game on a solo round-tripper first. Then, Alerick Soularie sliced a two-run laser down the right field line, which stayed fair.

The Drillers would get one run back on a Griffin Lockwood-Powell single to center in the bottom of the eighth to cut into the Wichita lead. After putting runners on first and second, Alleyne grounded into a fielder’s choice where the Wind Surge throw to first flew out of play to score the tying run. Tulsa’s next batter, Freeland, lined the game-winning single to right, with Alleyne scoring from second.

Jared Solomon received the loss and fell to 0-3 on the season, surrendering two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk against one strikeout in the ninth inning.

Wichita returns home to begin a series with the San Antonio Missions at Riverfront Stadium on Monday, May 21, with a 7:05 PM first pitch on Bark in the Park night.
