LYNCHBURG, Va. (July 29, 2017) - Lynchburg right-hander Shao-Ching Chiang handed Winston-Salem its first no-hitter since 2003 in a 3-0 win for the Hillcats on Saturday night at Calvin Falwell Field. Chiang (8-8) collected his first career no-hitter and nine-inning complete-game shutout, during which he tied a season-high with seven strikeouts.

Chiang (8-8) collected his first career no-hitter and nine-inning complete-game shutout, during which he tied a season-high with seven strikeouts. Lynchburg (21-14, 61-43) had not recorded a nine-inning, solo no-hitter since 1992, while Winston-Salem had not gone hitless in a game since a seven-inning contest on July 3, 2003, when Frederick's John Maine accomplished the feat. Winston's most recent nine-inning no-no came against a pair of Wilmington pitchers on April 15, 1995, the first year of the Warthogs era.
