GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 5, 2021) — The Winston-Salem Dash fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers by the score of 7-2 on Saturday evening.

Isaiah Carranza was given the start for the Dash and ran into trouble early, as he gave up a leadoff home run to Matt Frazier. After drawing a walk, Lolo Sanchez reached on a single from Fabricio Macias and scored on a throwing error from right fielder Lazaro Leal. With Macias at second, a single by Grant Koch drove Macias in to give the Hoppers an early 3-0 lead.

Carranza gave up another dinger in the second frame to the leadoff man Jesus Valdez, extending the Greensboro lead by one.

Ian Dawkins stepped up in the third to connect for his fourth home run on the season—a solo bomb to put the Dash on the board.

Greensboro answered in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-spot, scoring Matt Frazier and Lolo Sanchez on singles. The two runs pushed Greensboro ahead 6-1

Travis Moniot found some power as well, popping his second home run of the season into the left field seats to tack another run on for the Dash in the fifth.

Grant Koch put his bat to work with a solo bomb in the seventh for the final run of the game to send the Grasshoppers to a 7-2 victory over Winston-Salem.

Isaiah Carranza (1-5) was handed the loss for the Dash. Omar Cruz (1-3) earned the win for Greensboro, striking out seven batters through five innings. Newcomer J.C. Flowers collected his first save of the year.
