Pawsox Introduce A "Summer Spree When Kids Are Free"
Continuing their season-long efforts to connect with kids, the Pawtucket Red Sox today announced that children - accompanied by a paying adult - will be admitted free during any of the PawSox remaining regular-season home games. The offer applies to children (aged 16 and under) and is valid for one child per paying adult.
Tickets must be purchased in person at the McCoy Box Office to receive the complimentary children tickets. The PawSox' "Summer Spree when Kids are Free" includes the final "Baker's Dozen" of home games, which conclude on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
"It's a simple idea: we want to ensure that as many children can enjoy an afternoon or evening of PawSox Baseball as we can," said PawSox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. "While our ticket prices are already affordable, we wanted to inspire moms and dads-and grandmothers and grandfathers-to bring the kids to yet another game before school starts.
"There's a musical sound in the ballpark when it's filled with children. We hear their laughter; we hear their chants; we hear their cheers. They count down the number of seconds 'til the pitcher pitches. It is as rejuvenating to adults as it is enjoyable for children. It reminds us who our players are playing for."
The club's mascots, Paws and Sox, are the official hosts of the Summer Spree.
This year, the PawSox have introduced several initiatives for children, including PawSox Junior Announcers, the PawSox Lunchbox Program, and the charitable "Hurl the Pearl" inning.
