RENO, NEV. - The Aces squared off against in-state rival Las Vegas 51's on Saturday night from Greater Nevada Field. Left-hander Eric Jokisch got the nod for interim manager Greg Gross. Jokisch allowed six hits and six earned runs in four innings of work. The Reno offense was stagnant for most of the evening, tallying just 12 hits. Ketel Marte (.379) launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, his third of the season.
Las Vegas would get on the board twice in the top of the first inning. Brandon Nimmo led off the ballgame with a sharp line drive off of the Aces southpaw. Mets farmhand Amed Rosario followed with a RBI triple off of the center field wall. After the triple, first baseman Dominic Smith hit a slow roller to second base, scoring Rosario and extending the Vegas lead to two. Again, the 51's would turn in two runs, this time in the top of the third inning.

Reno would respond to the Vegas two with two runs of their own. Ildemaro Vargas laced a two-out single passed Rosario to set up smoking-hot Ketel Marte. The Pacific Coast League hits leader crushed his third home run of the season over the left-center field wall to narrow the score at 4-2. Vegas would score four in the fourth and another in the top of the fifth for a final total of nine.
A three-run fifth inning from Reno would be their final of the evening. Each side was blanked over the last four innings of play. The 9-4 loss brings Reno to a record of 34-21, still two games up on the Tacoma Rainiers for first place in the Pacific Coast League Northern Division. Right-hander Frank Duncan will take the mound tomorrow in the final game of the homestand at 1:05 PM. Greater Nevada Field gates will open at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are on-sale now at www.renoaces.com or by calling (775) 334-4700.
