Wynton Bernard Named PCL Player of the Month

Albuquerque Isotopes center fielder Wynton Bernard has been named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for July, as announced today by Major League Baseball.

Bernard continued his career-best season by posting robust numbers throughout July. He compiled a .385/.443/.688 slash line in 22 games, to go along with eight doubles, three triples, five homers, 25 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Bernard appeared in 22 of Albuquerque’s 23 games in July, batting leadoff in every contest he played.

For July, Bernard ranked tops in the PCL in batting average (.385), hits (37), runs scored (30) and OPS (1.131) while finishing tied for second with 25 RBI in the month, one behind the league leader.

In addition to his productivity in July, Bernard also ranks at or near the top of the circuit in many offensive categories for the entire season. He currently leads the league in batting average (.329), is second in hits (110), third in runs scored (77) and RBI (74) and fourth in stolen bases (26).

Bernard has at least one hit in 64 of 80 games he has started this season. He currently ranks fifth in club history with 49 thefts in an Isotopes uniform, combined between last year and this year.

Bernard is the fifth Isotope to win a league Player of the Month honors, joining Scott Seabol (May 2006), Ryan McMahon (June 2017), Mike Tauchman (June 2018) and Taylor Motter (July 2021). He also received PCL Player of the Week honors from April 26-May 1.
