Beloit, WI – Fans across the community have submitted over 750 potential team names for Beloit’s Minor League Baseball team in the first week of a two-week submission campaign. The team announced last Tuesday that they would consider names suggested by fans to refresh their franchise as they prepare to move into a new riverbend stadium in 2021.
“It’s been so much fun reading all of the submissions from fans and seeing the passion baseball fans have across the region,” general manager Jeff Gray said. “From the submission page, to the comment sections on social media, to fans stopping by our store or calling the stadium, we’ve heard so many great ideas and so many great stories from fans on what this team means to them.”
Through the end of the day on Monday, August 10th, 63% of fan submissions through the team’s website were in favor of a new name for the franchise while 37% of submissions preferred some form of the current Snappers moniker.
“We’ve received hundreds of unique names and the creativity from our community has been astounding,” Gray said. “With one week remaining in the submission period, we’re excited to see the ideas continue to pour in and to work together with fans from across Rock County to pick the perfect identity for the team.”
Fans can submit their ideas for the team’s name on SnappersBaseball.com through Tuesday, August 18th. After submissions close, the team will narrow down the list of suggested names, picking the most frequently submitted ideas from fans and presenting them to the community for a fan vote.
