BELOIT – Despite an outstanding start by Josh White, the Beloit Sky Carp fell 2-1 to Peoria Wednesday night.

The Chiefs evened the series at one game each, out-hitting the Sky Carp 6-4 along the way.

Javier Sonoja made his first hit as a Sky Carp count. Sonoja’s two-out RBI single in the second inning staked Beloit to a 1-0 lead.

That’s the way it would stay until the sixth inning, thanks to the terrific work by White. The right-hander allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings.

Peoria tied the game in the sixth inning on a home run by Jimmy Crooks, then went ahead 2-1 in the eighth inning on a two-out, RBI single by Crooks.

The Sky Carp had plenty of chances throughout the night, but went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.

The Sky Carp and Chiefs will continue their six-game series Thursday night at 6:35. It’s Thirsty Thursday, where fans can get 16-ounce drafts of Busch Light for just $4.
