BELOIT – The Beloit Sky Carp ended their weeklong series with the South Bend Cubs on a positive note with a 6-2 victory on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium.

A robust crowd of 1,786 enjoyed a picture-perfect afternoon and many celebrated the Sky Carp win by running the bases following the game and having a family game of catch in the outfield.

The Sky Carp got an opening-inning jolt from Kahlil Watson, who crushed a solo home run to right field to make it 1-0.

Beloit extended its advantage to 2-0 in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kyler Castillo. Joe Mack drove home Yiddi Cappe in the sixth with a single to give the Sky Carp a 3-0 lead.

After the Cubs scored their first run of the game in the top of the eighth, Beloit bounced back in the bottom half Jacob Berry doubled and came around to score on a wild pitch and Mack singled Cappe home to make it 5-2.

Mack scored the Sky Carp’s final run on a wild pitch to account for the final score.

Zach King was outstanding on the mound for Beloit. The lanky southpaw hurled six scoreless innings for the third time in his four starts with the Sky Carp.

Franklin Sanchez, Caleb Wurster and Matt Pushard closed the game out effectively from the Beloit bullpen.

The Sky Carp will now head on the road to take on the Quad Cities River Bandits for the next week. The next time the Sky Carp will be in Beloit will be Tuesday, May 30, when they welcome in the Great Lakes Loons.
