PEORIA—The Beloit Sky Carp banged out 10 hits and eight runs Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Peoria Chiefs in an 11-8 shootout loss.

The Sky Carp trailed 1-0 in the top of the third inning when Josh Zamora and Dalvy Rosario hit back-to-back solo home runs to bring the Sky Carp a 2-1 advantage.

Peoria made quick work of that lead, tallying six runs in the third inning to take the lead. The two teams traded runs in the fourth inning, with Jake Thompson doubling home a run for the Sky Carp.

Beloit cut the lead to 8-7 in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Tanner Allen and a two-run triple from Jacob Berry, who started at first base for the first time in his professional career.

Thompson hit into a double play that drove in Davis Bradshaw in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game, but Nathan Church got his fourth hot of the game to give Peoria the lead in the bottom of the inning, and Jimmy Crooks hit a two-run blast to make it 11-8.

The Sky Carp and Chiefs will meet again Friday night in game four of their six-game series. The team will be back home Tuesday, June 13 to face the Quad Cities River Bandits.
