LAKEWOOD, NJ - The New York Yankees have announced the following roster moves affecting the Charleston RiverDogs roster:

  • RHP Matt Wivinis - Promoted from Charleston to High-A Tampa
  • OF Dom Thompson-Williams - Reinstated from Charleston 7-Day Disabled List

Wivinis, 24, departs Charleston after impressing in late-inning relief. The Chicagoland area native currently ranks tied for the league-lead with six saves. The Eastern Illinois product and former indy baller fanned 14 batters in 8 2/3 innings, striking out nearly half of the overall batters he faced (48.3%) without issuing a walk.
Wivinis marks the second pitcher to get the call-up to Tampa from Charleston after starter Nick Nelson was promoted on May 5.
Thompson-Williams, 23, returns to the active roster after appearing in the first three games of the season as Charleston's centerfielder and going 3-for-10 at the dish in Lexington. The former South Carolina Gamecock was the sixth-round pick of the Yankees in 2016 after his lone junior transfer season spent in the SEC. The lefty bat hit .277/.366/.390 with three home runs and seven stolen bases in Staten Island (Short Season, New York-Penn League) last year before being promoted to Charleston, where he finished the year with a 15-for-80 (.188) stretch.

Charleston (16-15) begins their Northern tour on Wednesday night in Lakewood, taking on the BlueClaws (16-15), the Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in game one of a three-game tilt at FirstEnergy Park starting at 6:35 p.m. The game broadcast begins at 6:30 on riverdogs.com and the RiverDogs TuneIn radio station. The club's radio affiliate will join the game in progress starting at 7 p.m on WTMA 1250 AM.
After the three-game series in Lakewood and four in Hagerstown, MD, the RiverDogs return to The Joe for a four-game set against the Columbia Fireflies, starting with a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday presented by 95SX on May 17.
RiverDogs single-game tickets are now available for the 2018 campaign, the club's 25th season as the RiverDogs and their "175th season in dog years." Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com/tickets.
