(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – The Charlotte Knights closed out their six-game series against the top team in Triple-A with their third consecutive win.

1B Gavin Sheets launched a big two-run home run to help propel the Knights to a 3-2 rain-shortened win over the Nashville Sounds on Sunday in the finale of their six-game series from Truist Field. The win helped improve the Knights to 9-9 at Truist Field this season after earning a win in the final three games of the six-game series.

RHP Jimmy Lambert started for the Knights and was sharp into the fifth inning. Lambert allowed just one unearned run on two hits, but did not factor into the decision. Lambert walked three and fanned seven batters.

The game officially started at 2:32 p.m. after rain delayed the 2:05 p.m. first pitch start time. In the top of the seventh inning, the rain resumed and the game was delayed for 35 minutes. Eventually, the game was called and the Knights earned the rain-shortened victory, 3-2.

The home run was the fifth of the season for Sheets.

LHP Will Carter (1-0, 13.50) earned the win out of the Charlotte bullpen. He struck-out one batter in the seventh.

The Knights will now have an off day on Monday before beginning a six-game road series against the Durham Bulls on Tuesday from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The “Voice of the Charlotte Knights” Matt Swierad will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
