(DURHAM, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game two of the six-game series against the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday evening.

Shortstop Matt Reynolds provided Charlotte’s first two runs of the game with a two-run double in the second inning. After the Knights took the 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Bulls charged back to score seven runs over the next two innings.

Durham scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2. One inning later, the Bulls broke the game open with five runs in the third. Charlotte RHP Jimmy Lambert (3-2, 5.13) was saddled with the loss after he allowed seven runs on four hits over 3.1 innings pitched.

First baseman Mikie Mahtook, who homered in Tuesday’s opener, drove home Charlotte’s third and final run in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly. Center fielder Blake Rutherford scored Charlotte’s third run of the game in the ninth inning. Rutherford had a team-high two hits on the night, including his team-high 16th double of the season.

Wednesday's loss was Charlotte's 10th straight.
