(DURHAM, NC) – Designated hitter Tim Beckham homered for the second consecutive day, but the Charlotte Knights fell to the Durham Bulls in game two of the six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a score of 10-5 on Wednesday night.

The Bulls got off to a quick start in the game and scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning off Charlotte RHP Reynaldo López (0-3, 9.00), who was charged with the loss.

Making his fifth start of the season with Charlotte, López allowed seven earned runs over four innings of work on Wednesday. He walked four batters and struck-out three. He also allowed a home run to top prospect Wander Franco in the fourth inning.

Offensively for the Knights, Beckham went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, his fourth of the season and second in as many days against his former team. His three-run blast in the top of the sixth inning cut the Durham lead to just two, 7-5, but the Bulls battled back to score three more runs along the way. First baseman Gavin Sheets and right fielder Mikie Mahtook chipped in with an RBI each for the Knights.

The two teams will continue their series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. The “Voice of the Charlotte Knights” Matt Swierad will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
