(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights opened a six-game home series against the Syracuse Mets with an 9-2 loss on Tuesday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte, NC. The loss snapped Charlotte’s two-game winning streak.

The Knights scored both runs in the top of the first inning on solo home runs from third baseman Danny Mendick and right fielder Oscar Colás. For Mendick, the home run was his team-leading fourth of the season. The home run for Colás was his second of the year.

RHP Brad Keller (1-1, 5.23) started the game for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed four runs on five hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Keller walked four batters and fanned two.

Offensively for the Mets, first baseman Mark Vientos led the way with three hits and four RBI. Additionally, Syracuse designated hitter Jiman Choi had two hits and three RBI.

The Knights will continue the six-game home series against the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets) on Wednesday morning from Truist Field.
