(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the finale of the six-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 8-1 on Sunday evening at Truist Field in a rain-shortened game. The Stripers had two outs in the top of the sixth inning when the rain intensified and the game was put into a weather delay. After 38 minutes, the game was called.

Sunday’s loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Knights, who still won the six-game series overall. The Knights won four of the six against Gwinnett.

LHP Tobias Myers (1-10, 6.02) was the losing pitcher in his Charlotte Knights debut on Sunday. He allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit over 1.1 innings pitched. Chicago White Sox RHP Vince Velasquez allowed three runs in just 0.1 innings pitched in the third game of his rehab assignment.

Offensively, the Knights mustered just three hits on the day. First baseman Zach Remillard doubled home the team’s lone run in the bottom of the second inning. It was his 37th RBI of the season.

Shortstop Yolbert Sánchez and left fielder Blake Rutherford chipped in with one hit each in the game.

The Stripers connected on 11 hits in the game, including two home runs on Sunday. Ryan Casteel homered in the second inning off Myers and Greyson Jenista homered in the sixth off LHP Anderson Severino.

Despite Sunday’s loss, the Knights have won six of the team’s last eight games.

The Knights will now have an off day on Monday before heading to Allentown, PA to open a six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs starting on Tuesday. First pitch from Coca-Cola Park is set for 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
