Knights Roster Moves - July 20, 2021

The Charlotte Knights announced four roster moves ahead of Tuesday's opening game against the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Knights and Bulls are set to meet in a six-game series from July 20-25 in Durham, NC. LHP Bennett Sousa was promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham today.

The Charlotte Knights announced four roster moves ahead of Tuesday's opening game against the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Knights and Bulls are set to meet in a six-game series from July 20-25 in Durham, NC.

LHP Bennett Sousa was promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham today. Sousa, 26, went 0-1 with three saves and a 3.28 ERA in 20 games this season with Double-A Birmingham (24.2 IP/38 SO). He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 11th round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft.

RHP Keyvius Sampson was released by the Chicago White Sox organization. Sampson, 30, appeared in six games with the Knights this year and went 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA (5.0 IP). He was promoted to the Knights on June 18 from Double-A Birmingham. He made two relief appearances with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and went 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA (2.0 IP/2 SO).

INF Johan Cruz was placed on Charlotte’s Injured List (retroactive to July 19). In two games with the Knights, he is 1-for-8 at the plate with a double. Cruz hit .221 with High-A Winston-Salem earlier this season. He was promoted to Charlotte on July 8.

RHP Matt Foster was returned back to the Charlotte Knights by the Chicago White Sox after serving as the 27th man for the team’s straight doubleheader against Minnesota on Monday. Foster, 26, allowed one run over two innings of work on Monday. In 27 games with the White Sox this season, Foster is 2-1 with one save and a 6.04 ERA in 28.1 innings pitched. He has appeared in one game with the Knights this season (1.0 IP/0 ER on July 16 vs. Gwinnett).
