DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dragons will honor the Military and Family Readiness Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as “Hometown Heroes” during the game on Tuesday, June 17 when they take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
The Dayton Dragons shine the spotlight on the military, past and present, through the Hometown Heroes program. This program hosts military families at every Dragons game, while recognizing outstanding military groups and individuals.
Military and Family Readiness Center
Wright-Patterson's Military and Family Readiness Flight is part of the 88th Force Support Squadron. This center supports military individuals, families, and leadership with programs and services to strengthen communities, encourage self-sufficiency, enhance mission readiness, and ease the adaptation to the Air Force way of life.
The Military and Family Readiness Center serves military members along with Department of Defense employees and their families across a five-state, 243,000-square-mile area. The center manages the Air Force’s largest casualty field office and leads Wright-Patt’s largest Transition Assistance Program, providing counseling sessions, week-long courses, and capstones to ease transitions.
The Family readiness program provides assistance before, during, and after separation due to extended temporary duties, deployments, and remote assignments. It also runs one of the Air Force’s largest Exceptional Family Member Program, offering 7,000 counseling sessions and outreach to over 44,000 people.
This year, the team hosted a “Hiring Our Heroes” event that connected 303 members with jobs. They organized a holiday toy drive, delivering six pallets of toys to military families. The team has additionally worked with the Dayton Dragons to provide tickets and VIP experiences for military families at each of the Dragons’ 66 home games.
The Dayton Dragons Hometown Heroes program is made possible by the generous support of Dayton Development Coalition, Reynolds and Reynolds, HII Mission Technologies, Synergy Building Systems, and HNB.
