Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons took advantage of two Peoria errors with two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning to push across the winning run and defeat the Chiefs 6-5 on Thursday night. The Dragons have won the first two games of the series and will go for the sweep on Friday.
With two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the 13th, Taylor Trammell hit a high, deep drive to right center field. Chiefs outfielders Nick Plummer and Dylan Carlson collided and the ball fell on the warning track as Trammell reached second base. Carlson was charged with an error. The next batter, Bruce Yari, connected on a high drive to the left field corner. Peoria left fielder Nick Fennell slightly overran the ball and reached back to try to make the catch. The ball glanced off his glove, allowing Trammell to score to end the game.

The Dragons erased a four-run deficit to win for the first time in 2017. They trailed 4-0 going to the bottom of the sixth inning before scoring four runs to tie the game. They fell behind 5-4 in the top of the eighth, but responded with a run in the bottom of the same inning to tie the game at 5-5.
In the sixth, Michael Beltre started the frame with a double and scored on Yari's double. John Sansone followed with a double to right to bring in Yari and make it 4-2. One batter later, Malik Collymore blasted a game-tying two-run home run, his second homer of the year, to tie the game at 4-4.
After Peoria scored in the top of the eighth, Dayton's Hector Vargas blooped a double to right to bring in John Sansone from first base to tie the game at 5-5.
The Dragons had a great chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth when they loaded the bases with no outs on a walk to Beltre, a single to Taylor Trammell that moved Beltre to third, and an intentional walk to Yari. After Peoria moved one of their outfielders to the infield, utilizing a five-man infield to try to prevent the winning run from scoring, the next three Dragons batters went down on strikes to send the game to extra innings.
For the second straight night, the Dragons bullpen was outstanding. After tossing five and one-third scoreless innings on Wednesday, Dragons relievers allowed just one run in eight innings on Thursday. Lucas Benenati (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings for the win.
Dayton's Jose Siri extended his hitting streak to 26 straight games with an infield single in the first inning. The 26-game hitting streak is the longest in the Midwest League during the current decade (2010-17). The league record is 35, set in 1977 by Waterloo's Tony Toups.
The Dragons finished with 12 hits. Trammell was 3 for 7. Sansone and Vargas each had two hits.
Up Next: The Dragons (10-17, 51-46) meet the Chiefs (15-12, 45-51) on Friday at Fifth Third Field at 7:07 p.m. in the last game of the three-game series. Alex Webb (0-0, 1.93) will start for the Dragons as he returns from the disabled list. Austin Warner will make his first start of the season for Peoria.
Dragons games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be televised on Dayton's CW (channel 26). All Dragons games are broadcast on radio on Fox Sports 980 WONE and on the internet at wone.com. Games are also available on the Dayton Dragons mobile app.
