Dayton, Ohio - The Dragons and Vectren will honor WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW Coats for Kids Drive during the unique "Community All-Stars" program on Thursday, August 16, at 7:00 p.m. when the Dayton Dragons take on the Lake County Captains at Fifth Third Field.
The Dayton community is a great place to live, work and play. But what makes Dayton truly great are the people that call Dayton home. We have great people and great organizations in our community that do incredible things each and every day. Throughout the season, the Dragons and Vectren will honor five "All-Stars" with a special inning break tribute in recognition of their service.
WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW: Providing Coats to Those in Need
For the 35th consecutive year, WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW is hosting their Coats for Kids Drive beginning in early September. As the weather begins to turn in the Miami Valley, many people will need winter coats and other winter accessories. These people will have the opportunity to pick up their very own winter coat and accessories in preparation for the upcoming winter weather. This is all made possible by generous donations from various local organizations and individuals.
Anyone in need will be able to pick up a coat until supplies run out. For those interested in picking up a coat, you will be asked to show proof of need including a valid SNAP card or documentation from Job and Family Services.

In 2017, WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW collected more than 1,000 coats during the Coats for Kids Drive. Over the last 34 years, they have collected and distributed close to a 500,000 coats and winter accessories to those in need.
Distribution details including pick up locations will be released in late September, but anyone interested in donating new or gently used coats, can look for the Coats for Kids blue barrels, including in the WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW TV station lobby.
For making a difference in the community, WDTN-TV and Dayton's CW Coats for Kids Drive has been selected as a Dragons Community All-Star. The program honors those that have gone above and beyond to improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley.
The Dragons Community All-Stars Program is made possible by the generous support of Vectren. For more information or to nominate an All-Star in your life, visit www.daytondragons.com/communityallstar.
