DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dragons will recognize the Boys and Girls Club of Dayton as a Community All-Stars recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Thursday, May 8 against the Great Lakes Loons at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Since 1930, the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton (BGCD) has been a cornerstone of support for local youth and teens, providing a safe, nurturing environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive. BGCD’s mission is to enable all young people to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The club serves K-12 students with high-quality, evidence-based programs designed to foster academic success, leadership development, and career readiness—all through an approach that prioritizes social-emotional well-being.

BGCD equips youth and teens with hands-on STEM learning, workforce exploration, and life skills development to prepare them for success beyond high school. The club also provides critical mental and behavioral health support, including access to an on-site, licensed social worker, as well as nutritious meals and snacks and wraparound services to ensure every young person has the resources they need to thrive. Open during critical out-of-school hours—both after school and throughout the summer—BGCD helps break the cycle of generational poverty and builds a stronger Dayton community.

BGCD’s goal is that every member who graduates from the program will enroll in higher education or trade schools, enlist in the military, or enter the workforce—empowered with the skills and confidence to create a bright future.

For their dedication in shaping the next generation of leaders, the Dragons are proud to recognize BGCD as a Dragons Community All-Star. To learn more, get involved, or support the club’s mission, visit www.bgcdayton.com.
