Dragons to Recognize Therapeutic Riding Institute as Community All-Stars Recipient on July 2

DAYTON, Ohio — The Dayton Dragons, in partnership with Flying Ace Express Car Wash, will recognize the Therapeutic Riding Institute as a Community All-Stars recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Wednesday, July 2 against the Lake County Captains at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

The Therapeutic Riding Institute (TRI) was founded 52 years ago in Centerville, becoming one of the first centers in the world to provide adaptive horseback riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities. After over 45 years of renting stalls and arena time, the institute found a permanent home on a 23 ½ acre horse farm in Spring Valley in 2019.

Ranging in age from five to 80-years-old, approximately 250 annual participants come to TRI from all throughout the Southwest Ohio region. As the Dayton area’s Premier Accredited Center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Int’l), TRI’s programming can serve a variety of diagnoses. The center’s Adaptive Riding program provides for various mental health diagnoses including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, learning delays and more through their unmounted equine-assisted counseling program.

TRI’s services allow participants to reach goals they never thought possible. The center also offers opportunities for youth organizations to help participants’ focus on social and emotional learning through the unique experience of equine-assisted learning.
