Moon Homers, Hairston Delivers Three RBI as Tortugas Win Fifth Straight

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Bernard Moon launched his 10th home run of the season, while Jalen Hairston drove in three runs as the Daytona Tortugas defeated the Bradenton Marauders, 8-2, Saturday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The Tortugas scored eight runs over the first three innings before the pitching staff closed the night with five consecutive scoreless frames.

The Rundown

Bradenton opened the scoring against Dusty Revis in the top of the first. Wyatt Sanford walked, Johan De Los Santos singled him to third and Eddie King Jr. brought him home with a single to right. Revis prevented further damage by retiring the next three hitters and stranding runners at the corners.

Daytona answered immediately. Hairston led off the bottom of the first with a double to left-center and scored when Jirvin Morillo lined his first Single-A extra-base hit into left field for an RBI double that tied the game at 1-1.

The Tortugas moved ahead in the second after Ichiro Cano singled and Henry Hunter walked. With two outs, Moon launched a three-run homer to left field to put Daytona in front, 4-1. The blast was his 10th of the season, making him the first Tortuga to reach double figures in home runs this year.

Daytona broke the game open with four more runs in the third. Ty Doucette and Morillo drew consecutive walks before Rafhlmil Torres loaded the bases with a bunt single. Cano forced home a run with a walk, and Hairston cleared the bases with a three-run double to left-center to extend the lead to 8-1.

Revis settled in after the opening inning and completed a career-high 4.2 innings. Bradenton pushed across its second run on a two-out RBI single by Bralyn Brazoban in the fifth, but Jesus Colina entered with two runners aboard and stranded both to preserve the six-run advantage.

Making his Single-A debut, Colina retired all seven batters he faced over 2.1 hitless innings to earn the victory. Logan Tanner, who previously appeared for Daytona as a catcher, followed with two scoreless innings in his Single-A pitching debut to finish the win.
