Asheville, NC - The Asheville Tourists were in control of Saturday's game from start to finish in a 10-1 defeat of the Greenville Drive.
The Tourists (38-30, 67-69) led 3-0 through the first four innings. Vince Fernandez drove home the game's first run with a third-inning single off Enmanuel De Jesus (0-1). A two-run double by Brian Serven in the fourth extended the lead.
Santiago Espinal drove home the Drive's (37-31, 78-59) lone run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Tucker Tubbs, who led off with a single.
A five-run sixth allowed the Tourists to pull away and chase De Jesus from the game. Serven and Ben Johnson delivered RBI singles in the frame, and Manny Melendez added a two-run double. A Drive error plated the final run.
Melendez struck for another two-run double in the eighth.
Espinal and Jagger Rusconi collected two hits apiece for the Drive, who still need one more victory to set a franchise record for wins in a season.
Sunday night's game in Asheville begins at 7:05 PM. Left-hander Jhonathan Diaz (6-5, 4.20) will take the mound for the Drive, and the Tourists will counter with right-hander Erick Julio (6-11, 5.00).
