Wainwright was placed on the Injured List on March 30 with a groin injury. He has made two appearances with Double-A Springfield as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment, posting no record and 6.14 ERA (7.1 IP), adding four strikeouts compared to one walk.
In 457 career Major League appearances, including 390 starts, the 41-year-old has accumulated a 195-117 record and 3.38 ERA (2,567.1 IP), adding 2,147 strikeouts. He ranks second all-time in Cardinals franchise history in strikeouts behind only the late Bob Gibson. In his 17-year Big League career he has been named an National League All-Star three times, in addition to earning two Gold Glove Awards and the 2020 recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award.
First pitch on Sunday evening is scheduled for 5:05pm ET, with gates opening at 4:00pm. Wainwright is expected to face off against top Rays prospect RHP Taj Bradley. Tickets are available and can be purchased by clicking here.
