Bulls second baseman Jonathan Aranda bashed three hits and shortstop Tristan Gray homered, while Redbirds catcher Ivan Herrera crushed a go-ahead two-run home run and starting pitcher Michael McGreevy allowed two runs over five-plus solid innings in Memphis’ 4-3 victory over Durham on Tuesday evening at AutoZone Park.

The Bulls got on the board first with a two-run opening frame courtesy of RF Ruben Cardenas’s sacrifice fly and LF Ben Gamel’s run-scoring base hit to center. The Redbirds would then even the contest with a pair of tallies in the fourth before Herrera went yard in the sixth to move Memphis ahead 4-2. Gray would later go deep with a solo shot in the ninth to make it a one-run contest before Aranda reached base with his third hit of the night, however the Bulls were unable to complete their comeback effort.

Aranda (2-3, R) posted a game-high three knocks, and was the lone Bulls batter to collect a multi-hit effort. Herrera (2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) and SS Masyn Winn (2-4), meanwhile, each tallied a pair of knocks for Memphis.

McGreevy (5.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) earned the victory, while Jake Walsh (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 SO) notched the save. Bulls starter Evan McKendry (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) did not factor in the final decisions while Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Zack Littell (0.1 IP, H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB) suffered the loss in the first outing of his Major League Rehab Assignment.

The two teams are set to continue their series on Wednesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05pm ET. RHP Sean Hunley is anticipated to get the nod for Durham and is slated to be opposed by RHP Dakota Hudson.

The Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, June 13 to begin a 12-game homestand, beginning with a six-game series versus the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. First pitch of that contest is set for 6:35pm.
