DURHAM, NC - For the second consecutive game a four-run lead for the Gwinnett Stripers was too much to overcome for the Durham Bulls, as they fell 4-2 Sunday evening at the DBAP.
The Stripers moved in front 4-0 through five and a half innings, behind a two-run double from Danny Santana, and RBI singles from Phil Gosselin and Sal Giardina.
In the home half of the sixth following a leadoff single by Adam Moore, who was put out on a fielder's choice from the bat of Kevin Kiermaier, Kean Wong drilled a two-run shot, his sixth home run of the year, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
The Bulls threatened with runners at second and third in the bottom of the eighth, but a strikeout of Brandon Snyder and a ground out by Ji-Man Choi ended the threat.
Andrew Moore (L, 1-2) was saddled with the loss in his second consecutive start. He allowed three unearned runs over 4.0 innings on six hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.
Wong tallied two hits for the second game in a row and third time in his last six games.
Wes Parsons (W, 2-1) earned a his second win in the last three starts following his 5.1 innings, where he allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Jacob Webb earned his first save of the season fanning two batters and closing out the ninth inning.
Following an off day on Monday, the Bulls (37-30) hit the road to Louisville to face the Bats (24-40) from Louisville Slugger Field on Tuesday evening. The first of a six-game road trip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
