Bulls fall in game 4 to Worcester

Bulls CF Vidal Brujan recorded two hits and reached base three times; however Red Sox CF Franchy Cordero clubbed two hits and went yard on a solo blast, and 2B Emmanuel Valdez added a three-run shot to push Worcester (53-50) past Durham (56-47) 5-1 on Friday night at Polar Park.

Bulls CF Vidal Brujan recorded two hits and reached base three times; however Red Sox CF Franchy Cordero clubbed two hits and went yard on a solo blast, and 2B Emmanuel Valdez added a three-run shot to push Worcester (53-50) past Durham (56-47) 5-1 on Friday night at Polar Park.

Cordero put Worcester on the board in the first as he launched the leadoff homer. In the third, Valdez tattooed his three-run bomb to put the Red Sox up 4-0. In the fourth, Bulls RF Grant Witherspoon notched an RBI groundout to trim the deficit to three. In the seventh, Valdez would knock an RBI groundout of his own to cap the scoring.

Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Murphy earned the win after seven strong innings of work, allowing one run on six hits and ringing up five strikeouts, while Durham starter Taj Bradley suffered the loss. Tampa Bay Rays reliever Nick Anderson also fired a scoreless inning as part of his MLB Rehab Assignment.

The Bulls are set to continue their six-game road trip on Saturday afternoon against the Worcester Red Sox, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 pm. RHP Luis Patino is expected to start for Durham and be opposed by RHP Connor Seabold for Worcester.

The Bulls return to the DBAP following their six-game road trip on Tuesday, August 9th to open a six-game homestand against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
