Durham, NC -- Alan Rangel and three Lehigh Valley relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the IronPigs blanked the Durham Bulls 4-0 on Thursday night at the DBAP.

Rangel (W, 1-0) spun six scoreless frames, permitting just three hits and three walks en route to the victory. Brett McGarry, Lou Trivino and Chase Shugart combined for the final three innings of relief work for the Iron Pigs (5-1).

Logan Workman (L, 0-2) served up a three-run homer to Garrett Stubbs in the second inning for what would be the game's pivotal moment. Workman walked the first two batters of the inning before Stubbs blasted a 1-1 pitch over the centerfield wall. Workman would last 4 2/3 innings, permitting four runs and fanning seven in taking his second straight loss.

Andrew Wantz (1.1IP/0R), Kodi Whitley (2IP/0R) and Joe Rock (1IP/0R) collaborated on the final 4 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Victor Mesa Jr. and Gavin Lux each had a single, while Tre’ Morgan and Blake Sabol collected a double in the defeat for the Bulls (1-5).

The series continues Friday night with Brody Hopkins slated to oppose three-time National League all-star Zack Wheeler on a major league rehab at 6:45 PM ET.

Notes: Tampa Bay second baseman Gavin Lux started a major league rehab with the Bulls on Thursday, playing the entire game and going 1-4 at the plate... Tre’ Morgan, who doubled in the fourth inning, was removed from the game at the start of the sixth inning... Workman, who allowed 27 home runs last year, yet 24 were solo shots, has given up four in his eight innings this season. None has been a solo home run, with the four accounting for 10 runs.
