Lawrenceville, GA --- Luke Williams homered twice to lead the Gwinnett Stripers past the Durham Bulls 7-2 at Gwinnett Field on Sunday afternoon.
Williams threaded a home run in the fifth inches inside the left field foul pole, then hit a two-run shot to straightaway left in the seventh, both against Bulls reliever Joe Boyle.
The Stripers (24-27) took a 3-0 lead against Tampa Bay Rays rehabbing starter Griffin Jax (L, 0-1). David McCabe doubled home a pair of runs to right-center, followed by a run-scoring single by Lizandro Espinoza to make it 3-0.
Jax worked three innings, permitting three hits, three runs and two walks. Boyle worked the next four, allowing three runs on two hits with Brody Hopkins nicked for an eighth inning run.
Logan Davidson hit a 2-run shot in the seventh to pull the Bulls within 4-2.
Durham (30-20), which claimed four of the six in the series, won the season series 16-8 over Gwinnett.
The Bulls collected nine hits in the game, with Tre Morgan, Jack Suwinski and Carson Williams each notching two. Nick Madrigal grounded into three 5-4-3 double plays. Aside from Davidson's home run, the Bulls did not get a baserunner to second base in the game.
Atlanta rehabbing starter Reynaldo Lopez worked four scoreless innings.
The Bulls return home on Tuesday night against the Norfolk Tides at 6:45 PM ET.
