The Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday announced that outfielder Josh Lowe has been placed on the Injured List with a right oblique strain, and recalled outfielder Jake Mangum from Durham. Mangum would make his MLB debut when he first appears in a game with the Rays.

Mangum was the International League’s Batting Champion in 2024 after posting a .317 average (126-398) in 104 games with the Bulls, adding 30 doubles, 1 triple, six homers & 56 RBI. In 432 career minor league games, Mangum has hit .296 (496-1678) with 254 runs, 101 doubles, 21 triples, 24 homers & 208 RBI across 5 seasons (2019, 21-24). That included 256 games at the Triple-A level, including two full seasons with Durham (2024) and Jacksonville (2023)

The Mississippi State alum was originally selected by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He was acquired by the Miami Marlins as the player to be named later on December 7, 2022 in a trade that sent pitchers Elieser Hernández and Jeff Brigham to the Mets. The Rays acquired the 29-year-old from the Marlins as a player to be named later along with infielder Erick Lara and right-hander Andrew Lindsey in exchange for infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan and right-hander Calvin Faucher.
