Moosic, PA --- Ryan McBroom launched a tie-breaking home run in the last of the eighth to send Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the Durham Bulls 4-3 on Saturday night at PNC Field.
With two outs and none on, McBroom drove a Casey Sadler (L, 1-1) pitch over the centerfield wall for his team-leading 16th home run, putting the Rail Riders (43-29) ahead 4-3. Danny Coulombe (W, 2-0) fanned Jake Cronenworth with the tying and go-ahead runs aboard to end the game.
Brendan McKay worked the first five innings for Durham (46-28), allowing just an unearned run in the third inning on a throwing error by second baseman Nick Solak. McKay needed 30 pitches to get through the fourth inning, stranding the bases loaded as Gosuke Katoh flied to deep center on a 3-2 pitch. McKay's final inning saw three straight strikeouts.
Solak hit his third home run in three games, taking out reliever Adonis Rosa to right field with Kean Wong aboard to give Durham a 2-1 lead.
Sadler worked the final three innings, permitting two runs in the sixth as the Rail Riders took a 3-2 lead. Mike Tauchman tripled to right, then scored on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Logan Morrison smacked a home run to centerfield.
The loss was Durham's first on its six-game road trip, which stands at 4-1 heading into Sunday afternoon's finale at 1:05 PM ET.
