Moore's Slam Paces Bulls Past Indians

DURHAM, N.C. - The first-place Durham Bulls won their second straight game, beating the West Division-leading Indianapolis Indians 8-2 at the DBAP Thursday night in front of 10,206 fans.

It was a throwback night at the DBAP as the Bulls hosted 90s Night, but the newest Bull ended up being the hero. In his second game as a Bull, Jeremy Moore went 2-for-3 and hit a grand slam to deep right field in the fifth inning. Moore also drove in the first run of the game, tying the score at one with an RBI single in the second.

The slam capped a six-run outburst in the fifth for the Bulls (45-37), as Curt Casali had a two-run double earlier in the inning that plated Jayson Nix and Mikie Mahtook. The game was tied 2-2 entering the fifth.

Matt Andriese (7-4) struck out six in six innings while allowing just two runs to pick up his sixth win over his last eight starts. Brandon Gomes threw two scoreless innings of relief before Steve Geltz tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to preserve the victory. Southpaw Adam Wilk (6-6) took the loss for Indianapolis (46-34), surrendering six runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 frames.

Nix, Mahtook and Robby Price all contributed two hits for the home side, while Price tied a career-high by scoring three times.

The Bulls look to win 3-of-4 in the battle of division leaders with the final game of the homestand Friday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Jeremy Hellickson (0-3, 10.80) makes his fourth MLB rehab start for the Bulls against RHP Casey Sadler (7-1, 2.34) for Indianapolis.
