NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Tides scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete an 8-5, comeback victory over the Durham Bulls Thursday afternoon at Harbor Park.
Trailing 5-2 entering the bottom of the eighth, Steve Wilkerson hit a three-run homer to tie the contest. Later in the frame Anderson Feliz tallied a two-run double, and Chris Bostick drove hime Feliz with a single to make it a three-run contest.
The Bulls struck for the game's first three runs, as Andrew Velazquez scored on an error in the first inning, and Jake Cronenworth and Christian Arroyo each delivered RBI knocks in the third frame. After Norfolk got a run back in the fourth, Mike Brosseau doubled to score Velazquez and make it a 4-1 game in favor of the visitors.
In the seventh Arroyo tallied another RBI, this time driving home Kean Wong with a single, before the Tides cut the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh.
Chris Lee (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Tides with 3.1 innings of one-run ball, while Colin Poche (0-2) took the loss for Durham. Aaron Slegers picked up a no-decision for Durham, tossing seven innings and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out four.
The Bulls return to the DBAP Friday when they open a three-game set against the Gwinnett Stripers at 7:05 p.m. LHP Ryan Merritt (0-1, 14.73) takes the mound for Durham opposite LHP Kolby Allard (1-0, 0.96) for Gwinnett.
