(Erie, PA) The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, today announce Zach Surdenik as the team’s play-by-play broadcaster for the 2026 season. Surdenik brings experience across Minor League Baseball and collegiate athletics with more than 350 games of play-by-play experience on radio, television, and streaming platforms. Surdenik will make his SeaWolves broadcast debut on Opening Night, Friday, April 3.

Surdenik joins Erie after serving as the play-by-play broadcaster and media relations contact for the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Detroit Tigers’ Single-A affiliate, during their 2025 championship season. He called more than 80 games while assisting with broadcast production, media relations, and digital content creation.

Prior to Lakeland, Surdenik worked with the Detroit Tigers as a Communications and Broadcast Assistant during the 2024 season, assisting with broadcast preparation, statistical research, and engineering for Spanish-language radio broadcasts. He has also served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League and as the lead broadcaster for the Tri-City Chili Peppers of the Coastal Plain League, where he was named the league’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2022.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Surdenik earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Sports Journalism in 2024. While at Michigan State, he called live broadcasts for a variety of sports through Spartan Media Network and Big Ten Network StudentU.

Surdenik takes over for Greg Gania, who served as the primary play-by-play voice of the SeaWolves for two decades. SeaWolves fans will continue to hear Gania on-air as part of the Detroit Tigers Radio Network for select games.
